Interbranch Consumer Council on the activities of natural monopolies
The Interindustry Council of Consumers on the activities of natural monopolies (hereinafter referred to as the Consumer Council) is a collegial body established to ensure public control over the activities of natural monopoly entities in the territory of Moscow, taking into account the opinions of consumers of goods and services of natural monopoly entities when making decisions on setting prices (tariffs) for goods and services of natural monopolies, as well as to ensure maximum transparency in decision-making on investment pro grammes, the establishment of prices (tariffs) for goods and services of natural monopolies in the city of Moscow.
The Consumer Council was established in September 2015 to represent the interests of consumers, including the Regional Energy Commission (REC). After the transfer of the powers of the REC to the Department of Economic Policy and Development of the City of Moscow, amendments were made to the Regulations on the Council of Consumers and its new composition was formed (approved by the order of the Government of Moscow dated August 15, 2016 No. 416-RP).
The Consumer Council included representatives of the ANO Agency for Strategic Initiatives, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, public and business organizations, consumers, as well as representatives of the expert community. In September 2016 the first meeting of the Consumer Council in the new composition.
